It is yet again the area, the low weight and the good experience that make me decide to go back to the Baleno.
I'm like in my previous cars to keep a diary of experience in driving reliable wagon, or replace the timing belt and the 'multi' belt because there is no history is known .. Just before the big trip the air conditioning turned out not even working from a donor car dismantled the entire air conditioning system and put on the Baleno, make filling and look we have air conditioning .. the main advantage of such an 'old' new car is that all of the demolition or cheaply through various online shops offered
On vacation (88 576 km)We are now in Croatia, on the island of Krk, after a journey of over 1300km we arrived last week for a well deserved holiday. The Baleno has done well an average of 1: 12.5, at a motorway speed of 115kmh average. Partly German motorway and partly toll and toll-free driving, was enjoying a successful Baleno ... Now my son is with, so a male even more luggage and an apartment so automatically more goods, and still run average economical.

Sunday shopping at the local supermarket and it is dark outside and we did get a hailstorm ... Hailstones as large as golf balls, there is no car file, including the Baleno is under the dents, I think certainly 35 .. . Approximately .. Too bad because the outside looks quite good for a car of more than 15 years old
back from Croatia ... (90 651 km)We are back in the Netherlands, very cold now, in Croatia it was 31 degrees .. The Baleno also the return run good and cheap, I kept consumption expendable review, average consumption comes out at 1: 12.5 .. which means that I on the mileage from Gaanderen to Krk, Croatia and back and a little bit of what I drove there I spent "only" € 265.00 and that 2700km .. not bad, if I do this with a gasoline car had done I was stood at € 540.00 .. So the choice was correct to choose the Baleno on LPG g3.
The first 10.000km have been (94 825 km)This week the first 10.000km full ridden, no news, the Baleno runs as he hears good and economical, still 1: 12.5 on average. any expenses we have winter tires underneath gezet..Ik do have to top up the first liter of oil that I was not used to but yes ver 15 years young and not used for a long time.
very constant (98 583 km)Actually not much to report news, we go steadily to 100.000 and basically no shocking experiences. Ff for winter changed the wiper blades and there was again a liter of oil .. The Baleno does what he has to do, and start walking. average LPG = 8l 100km thus 1: 12.5 average ..
20,000 now driven (104 636 km)We are the 20.000km over and that no major problems had APK, only two comments, new valve and a new license plate light bulb, Oja and I'm ready for new tires and brake pads. Brake pads are there already, € 50.00, links are already there, only had time to put them on the rims to zetten..Al in all just a decent car consumption is still 1: 12 ..
on to Croatia .. (108.750 km)In just over two weeks will 't happen again, 3000km in just over two weeks, to date no surprises with the Baleno, winter tires have been replaced by "new" summer tires, there is placed a cruise control, obviously ff the oil and replace filters. Average consumption is at 1:12. so no surprises ..
back from Croatia ... (113 235 km)We're back, drove 3500 km, an average of 1: 11.5 (4 and a roof box) no problems. So very happy ..
really not much going on .. (119 278 km)FF update, winter tires are again below, consumption around 1 to 12 problems .. there is a spark plug popped out of the cylinder head, probably not been tightened properly. Cost € 220.00. New shock absorbers come under (behind) the gas tank behind the rear axle you have a car that some backward state (or so it seems at least) purchased through marketplace € 65.00 (new and original) of any further, let's go quickly to the 120.000km af..en that a car 16 years
After five years and 125,000 kilometers away, in August 2004 the time for something different. Initially looking for a young used Seat Leon TDi. Because of the hefty prices and lower annual mileage then looked at a cheaper petrol version: a used or a new Leon 1.6 Ibiza. Finally chose new Ibiza Reference 1.4 (55kW) on Spirit package consisting of Climatronic and 15-inch alloy wheels with wider tires.
TRAIN (Rating: 7.5)
Getting used, the transition from an old but torquey turbodiesel for a small, quiet petrol engine.
The 1.4 liter engine with 55kW / 75hp delivers reasonably good performance and is especially quiet by nature. Through his 16-valve cylinder head is the torque below 3,000 rpm, a bit disappointing, on the other hand knows the engine is 'pinched' character above 4500 rpm little added value. An engine system which, in the middle area has a good throttle response. Then you notice that the engine (displacement: 1,390 cc) slightly larger in comparison with many other 75-horsepower competitors. On balance, the performance is similar to the Corsa C 1.2 16V which I did a half years.
Too bad the fine, cultivated engine running is hampered by the long gear ratios in relation to power / weight. This is the version with Spirit- / Sport Rider Package enhanced by the strong 195 / 55-15 tires that have more than 3 percent higher than the standard wheel size 185 / 60-14 tires. At 120 km / h, the engine runs just under 3,400 rpm. Trivial but striking; The rev limiter has been performing at 5,700 rpm in operation.
At gasaanname operates the electronic throttle delay, allowing for example downshift is difficult with a metered quantity of intermediate gas.
Transmission shifts very smoothly, with short strokes and sufficient resistance.
The fuel consumption turns out more than my previous car depending on the driving style and the outside temperature. In a quiet, anticipatory driving style I get in winter 15 km of a liter of petrol (octane 95). In the summer of disabled air conditioning 1 liter to 16.5 km achievable.
SITTING POSITION (Rating: 9)
One of the reasons why I chose Ibiza: the comprehensive adjustability of seats and steering helping to find a nice seat position for everyone. The range of height adjustment of the driver's seat is huge, only the seat is mounted high which most will put the seat automatically to the lowest position. Due to the high waistline of the windows you get with it send to you pulled and the seat in the lowest position nevertheless a reasonably sporty seating position. The sturdy chairs have a good shape and sit comfortably. The rear seat is also well profiled and provides ample headroom, thanks to the deep bowl shape of the seat. The legroom is tight contrast. Seriously let down by a 3-door Reference is the lack of an 'easy-entry mechanism on the front seats so that the back seat is difficult to access and exit is much trickier.
SUSPENSION & DAMPING (rating: 8 & 7)
is shown in some tests, 2002 Ibiza Stella and Signo quite week suspension. Perhaps now the default set-up is changed, for "week suspension" I can not call my car. The Ibiza Reference (model 2005) is sufficiently stiff suspension and has a pretty solid damping; short bumps are well communicated. The aspect suspension / damping would
PROBLEMSSince purchasing:
- Auto detects right where I obviously have taken into account the positive cant of most roads (for drainage).
- In cold / inclement weather cracking a deep impact spring rubbers in the suspension elements at the rear; a more common problem in Ibiza.
- Slight tremors in suspension and steering.
- Small play on the suspension links.
Update 3.000 KM
went to the dealer to align the car. Seat dealer owns no equipment to car alignment. However, they have well-balanced both front wheels and exchanged with each other. Although the car is not actually aligned encourages car now okay! However, small vibrations remain.
Update 7000 km:
Under guarantee new mounting rubbers mounted after the evil of the "creaking rubbers" completely disappeared. Only strange that three years after launch still Ibiza are delivered with inferior suspension rubbers.
Update 12.000 km:
- I make balancing the four wheels at a reputable tire specialist in Weert. Also, tires and rims checked for height stroke and other irregularities. After balancing is advised to lower the air pressure of 2.4 / 2.5 bar to 2.3 bar. The vibrations are below partially disappeared. The remainder would come on account of the stiff tires.
Update 25.000 km:
- No problems have been added. Engine has exemplary twist properties.
Update 46.000 km:
- Right Front tire driven for second leak. Both tires appear lopsided worn on the inside (negative camber) and have been replaced by Michelin Energy's type in the dimensions 195 / 55-15 are pricey. Tires offer less rolling noise and just a little comfort that lacked the Firestone Hawks. The car is now (December 2006) noticeably better than when delivered in August 2004.
--------------------------------- ---------------------
October 2005 made test drive in Leon 1.6 Sport-up.
Plus: interior ergonomics, performance seats and steering wheel, traction 1.6 engine, gearbox ratios, handling.
Min: Material dashboard and interior doors, grumpy engine visibility.
August 2006: right headlight broken. Take the car to appreciate more and more, especially in the city is a delicate, nimble car.
November / December 2006: the 'driving' used for fun. Thrice kept: 1 liter to 17.2 km; 1 16.9 1 km and 16.7 km. The profit is for me 1.5 km on 1 liter compared to the normal, quiet driving.
