For years I have nothing to let me hear but my red Roomster 200.000 km passed in August 2015. I am completely behind my review of December 2010. The following 100,000 km are smoothly
run, actually with fewer problems and annoyances than 1 100 000 km. Never really fresh-smelling air conditioner apart. There's nothing broken. Besides the regular maintenance at the dealer, only two discs and four pads. At 150,000 km leave the machine wash at Auto Trans in Lunteren. Downshifting from 5 to 4 times was rather surly. I should have done this earlier. After rinsing the problems were resolved.
After 200,000 km the car is still very good.
The machine turns just as smoothly as 5 km on the clock. But still made the decision to look for another car. Especially since there is now nothing
wrong and I had the slight pull, through speeding on the highway, more and more going to find a problem. After 8.5 years, with mixed feelings, on a Monday morning anyway but the 'new' retrieved. Decided to again buy a Roomster, used this time.
100,000 km Dec. 2010.
After much deliberation, I decided to post a review of my Skoda Roomster. My goal is to share my experiences as objective as possible. You will find the Roomster ugly, this is your right. You do not want to be seen in a Skoda, this too is your right. Do you want this and similar opinions, but not leave a message in response to this review. Thank you.
In late 2006, I first considered the Skoda Roomster replace my Mitusbishi Space Star 1.8 machine. Space Star (2003) had more than 80,000 km and I was looking for a new car that could run on LPG. The Space Star I was too old for a conversion. I was looking for a car with automatic transmission, large trunk and a lot of space and not least with the door price lower than EUR 25.000, -. The high seating of the Space Star had proven to be extremely comfortable. The Roomster was getting with 6-speed automatic transmission and was clearly broader than the Space Star, especially the trunk. In fact it was the only MPV that met my requirements. Most other mini-MPVs are all too small trunk. In February 2007, I have a Roomster 1.6 tiptronic Style ordered with the following extras: LM 15 "wheels, headlight washers, maxidot information display, passenger seat height adjustment, Sunset windows, luggage rack, roof rack, additional storage compartment under the front passenger seat, extra light rear ( always order!) and last but not least, the light machine. Start automatically turn the lights on. Dark red color (Flamenco) metallic. All options could be bought separately, you were not forced to choose a package for, how it should be. Unfortunately they are there now, at least in part, stepped from. After a month is a Vialle gasFX plant built preserving the manufacturer's warranty. Vialle gives itself two years and a maximum of 100,000 km warranty on the installation. I have deliberately chosen LPG, remains attractive if you suddenly start driving less after several years many kilometers.
Ride / comfort: the steering is very good. Fortunately very light. Heavy send seems to be sporting, I do not like it. The suspension is quite firm at a small deflection. At a deeper sag suspension is supple. About the handling as a whole I am very satisfied. The car is a class better than Fabia by the longer wheelbase and wider rear. The chairs were in 2006, a point of doubt, because too small for men of north European stature. In particular, the seat is very narrow, and what is short. The backrest is also a bit on the short side. The zitpostie is to be good at, even if the steering wheel still closer reach. The complaint by some drivers said they come to the center console with their knee I did not, I am a mystery, there remain far away. At the time, long considered the sport seats, but here you still sat very wedged between the high side bolsters of the seat. With 1.90 m and 80 kg I have, moreover, a normal build. I comfort the standard chairs rate now after nearly 100,000 km with the number 7. But what more generous seats would considerably increase the overall comfort. What was wrong with the Fabia I seats? Keep the seats are otherwise well, no visible traces of use and make them clean with soapy water. I chose the dark lining with gray stripes. The somewhat "fluffy" coating which now comes seems a deterioration, wear I think too fast and you get less clean. Recently sat down with sports seats at the dealership in a Fabia, these are mi better than those available in 2006/2007, they have a wider seat. I would order them now. Also a slightly fluffy fabric here, strange that they choose to see. It is very convenient that you can put back something back, if they fall asleep on the way they are not about right for younger children. Because of the low speed in 6th gear you really only hear the tires (somewhat noisy Continental Eco contact Vredestein winter tires something worse) and wind noise (little). The standard cruise control I feel great, I use a lot, also in the city. I want to never live without. An additional rear light unit is really necessary in this car. The aforementioned light machine I feel great, also never run here. For me no Christmas tree lighting. The light output of the (projector) H7 bulbs is very good, reaches far and is homogeneous. Beam is relatively less, but in combination with the "fog lights" this gives quite a sufficient quiet light image. This is something I'm certainly going to look at another car.
Driving / practical: It is a car that is easy to ride. Simple operation, there are few buttons on the dashboard, heating is simple and all buttons and switches are positioned at the right height, you can easily access. The dashboard is at the top of foamed soft material, the rest is hard plastic. There is nothing wrong with the way, I have seldom tend to iron while driving on the dashboard. Maxidot information display is compact and gives been a lot of information, good choice. Rear space is large and the entry is very easy. Three children in the back seat into the belts is thus a simple drawing. The seats are mounted higher than the front. As an adult, denotes more than the somewhat narrow seats. The large windows are great for kids, they may well look outside. The trunk especially with luggage rack (stacking high) very spacious. Everything always goes along. The removable rear seats are convenient, thereby transporting long items is very easy. Pity the back right is not flat to submit to, even easier during transport of long items. The storage compartments under the front seats are too small, it actually fits virtually nothing. Do you have anything in practice. The two glove compartments I find it convenient, reasonably spacious both.
Performance / consumption: as quiet rider consumption in residential work traffic on the highway 6.5 to 7.0 liters / 100 km according to the maxidot of up to 110 km / h on the lanes. LPG car in practice about 8.5 liters / 100 km. Additional consumption of LPG 25%, I am very satisfied with the consumption. There is absolutely no difference in running on petrol or gas, the performance is exactly the same. The machine allows for low speeds, you hear the engine barely 135 km / h 3000 rpm. Also on the open road this is wonderful, 85 km / h with 1800 rpm. The manual Roman Plotters I servicing operations often it will always ask me disappointed that matter, they make a lot more touring and a lot more noise. With 105 hp, the car is not a runner, but with a machine you only have to give easy peasy gas and there he goes. 1.6 Volkswagen is a long-stroke engine of the old school, though a lot of low-end torque. From 2000 rpm there is sufficient power in the 6th gear, this is slightly above the 90 km / h. Of course every turbodiesel rumbles over you once you're back on the right track. On the highway I put the machine often on hand, trade to right. If it is necessary I switch back manually. This prevents the tray always switch back if you (too much) bijgeeft gas runs much quieter. The annual trip to Switzerland passes on arrival always an average of 7.5 liters / 100 km according to the maxidot at up to 140 km / h. Substantial headwinds and drive faster 140 km / h chase consumption enormously towards the 10-11 liters / 100 km. The car runs at 130 on the counter most pleasant.
Maintenance / cost / irritation: Only the headlight height adjustment left last winter was defective. Whole unit replaced under partial leniency. Furthermore, no real defects. The turns, so 2 per year, cost an average of between EUR 200 and 300. What irritates a beating in the train, rattling dashboard cobbled roads, the knob of the airflow control which wants to turn usually right, sometimes jammed. All these things occurred all within the 1st year and 30,000 km for. Disappointing. Recently there was a grille center stuck on the dashboard. To restore this again has the grid been dismantled. The result is now 2 months later that one of the four tabs has been aborted. So the grid is no longer tightly in the dashboard. . The long smelly aircon seems solved.
Furthermore, the shelf is often mentioned in reviews. These always go with me directly to the attic, awkward things. The dark windows behind ensuring that privacy is limited in the trunk. With much rain washes an awful lot of water on the left side window. This limited vision in the mirror. Tricky, especially on the highway, you're unsure what to catch. Due to the low windshield, you have moderate view on the lights when you're out front.
Still further: The Roomster is no commercial success for Skoda in the Netherlands. In 4.5 years currently not sold in 2000. The car had to give them mi can sell much more a more conventional air. And recently fell against exchange offers, the bid was low. Honest dealer has listed an identical car in the showroom, as old as many kilometers, so probably no need for a 2nd now there. The build quality .. there are undoubtedly rattle-free cars that are over 100,000 km. Mine is not. The car is still as good as new and I do not see any wear in the interior. The car is very practical and spacious, and again there is no mi car that offers so much for this price. These issues respects the car fully up to expectations.
