I drive now two weeks into the new Fiat Punto Evo 1.3 16V Multijet Dynamic. This first report is just an intro, I'm only at the 1700km. Because I've had a lot on this review site during my search, I find it quite normal to themselves to share my experiences .. So I hope people do something about it!
My previous car was a Renault Clio 1.5DCI 80hp in 3-door version of September 2003. Due to my commute I have it purchased in August 2005 with 61.000km on the clock. When I found in mid-2009 that I began to get well again reasonably turn in terms of maintenance, I'm going to orient me to buy something else. Principles in financial sense for me: new or young used car, consumption had to practice the use of my Clio (ca. 1: 22.5, so diesel) approach at least, monthly costs (consumption, maintenance, road tax, ANWB) down; in terms of implementation: a 5-door (including the wide doors of a 3-door, I was tired) at least equipped with cruise control, air conditioning and Bluetooth for the phone. Appearance of a car, of course, also plays a role, but here I am someone who can find more importantly a slick interior.
After studying and test drives designed to have several cars in the smallest class (C1, Aygo, 107 Cuore) and the first road tax free cars in the segment above (Polo, Ibiza) Fiat came with the Grande Punto and Punto Evo on up . After following several tests and reviews, I thought I would look at the dealership. Although I might just ahead of what look slicker look like the Grande Punto, the Evo interior was the deciding factor for me. Of course there should be a price difference, but also the equipment level (incl. Cruise control ..) of the Evo is again much good. Are of course several option packages available for the Evo. Each his own thing, but for me, no alloy must more and tom-tom connection on top of the center console, I think just inviting the thieves guild (and thereby hardly remaining storage space in / around the center console). I eventually ended up with the five-door version in the color blue Brit pop combination with the blue interior. Factory options: rubbing strips in color, Blue & Me (Bluetooth behalf phone, USB connection in the center console for MP3 player and USB flash drive), full size spare wheel and fog lights with cornering function. The dealer vwb latter passed a wrong code, so I so instead fog lamps now have a center armrest in my car. On delivery the car with an extra discount (foglights're missing) accepted, for retrofitting gave limitation in function (no cornering function) and wait for a new car it took me too long (the Clio had walked inmiddeld 235.000km). Car was ordered in mid-June and delivered in early September, which was a month earlier than indicated. But you should obviously not complaining!
FIRST KM's:
- Exterior
Whether a car is beautiful, is a matter of taste, of course. I hear being just oh's and ah's, so that's positive (and I find himself still lovely). However, the design of the car does affect the view from the inside. The mirrors include above average size, whatever weather is fine. But the side windows before the front doors, I do not just weird design elements, they also add absolutely nothing to the visibility. The nose is totally visible (dashboard is very deep) and I think the windshield too early stop at the roof (at traffic lights above the road I have often bend over to view it). The car also has a rear blind spot reasonable (wide style). Anyway, each car does have such cases (the Polo and Ibiza also have quite a broad style behind ..) and to date they do not care for irritation (in terms of length is so I just well ..).
- Interior
If you sit then you look out on a toolbox with among others a km-counter (clumsy scale 50,70,90,110 etc) and a counter for fuel. When driving with the daylight illumination, this panel is not illuminated, and this counter is very difficult to read. With lights on, it's no problem. You also have a display right in front of you with time, outside temperature and mileage. Additionally, you can select whether you want to see the radio station (just like on the front of the radio itself), the cruising range, average fuel consumption or current consumption. Also, data of callers are displayed here (if Blue & Me is present). If you are very tall (> 1.95) CAN to the other in such a way that you can not see the upper part of the clock shop because of the position of the steering wheel. Now that the revolution is not a problem, but for the speedometer does.
The steering wheel (standard control, so do not get one) grabs tasty. It also has thickened and the material feels perfectly. The steering wheel has left and right four illuminated buttons for control of radio / CD / MP3 / USB / phone.
My center console includes a shelf portion at the top, below the front of the radio / CD and below the knobs of the air conditioning. The front of the radio is performed in piano lacquer. That was not necessary for me, but it has not yet been bothersome. The radio display was still clearly readable to me, under different sun conditions.
Because I now a center armrest (folding and storage) have and discard the portion in the center console, I miss no more storage space. The glovebox is large (the books of Fiat I stowed in the 'bag' on the passenger seat), the compartments in the front and rear doors not either. Handy are the cupholders in the doors and center console (for ashes).
I had an old Tom-tom (v3), this move I now using the sucker up in the discard portion on top of the center console. It also continues to curves / roundabouts are fine. In addition, no circles on the windshield by this. (placement in the 'ashtray holder behind the poker is also an option).
The seats do offer a good seat, the seat is just too short. Well I think the armrests in the doors are too narrow, and the same goes for the armrest in the middle. You're sitting pretty with arms apart if you let both arms resting on a support. It is whether one or the other. Downside I find the part where the key in. If you are really long, yet you sit here with your knee to be fast against it (all bunches of keys to the car key is no longer an option). To date, all suits me fine, it's obviously a question of finding the ideal position.
The center console also includes a USB connection. Here is a USB stick with them MP3s. It works perfectly, also via steering wheel controls. Fiat also offers the opportunity to work with the program Ecodrive (via USB stick), that I have yet to test.
The sound of the audio sounds just fine. Bluetooth operation and sound quality I experience as fine. You can perform all the functions of the phone with the steering wheel controls and when you see, you call the name of the person you are calling (assuming of course that is in your phonebook). You can also specify via voice over the steering wheel who you want to call ( "call home"). Very easy!
Trunk: the tailgate can be opened by remote control. He hereby pops open slightly, after which you can pull open himself easy and light (with one finger). Very convenient! For me (certainly compared Clio), the trunk is more than enough! What I do miss (standard in this klase?) Are those storage facilities in the sides for example. Your lamp kit so that now winds actually around in the car (rear door pockets), provided that it is in. On the inside, the valve includes a handle that you can throw again close the valve. Not so dirty fingers on the cover!
In conclusion I can say that I think in terms of interior I compared the Clio 2 or 3 classes have gone ahead in design, appearance, comfort, atmosphere and level of equipment. Since I usually do here is while driving, this is a very important aspect for me.
- Driving
The first thing I notice when driving is that it is so quiet inside. The chassis pleases me so far so good and I am in terms of comfort hitherto pleasantly surprised! I drive mostly highway and provincial roads, but also on the cobblestone bumps are nicely concealed in my opinion. Also never heard kraakje or rattle.
Steering is light (and can even lighter means CITY mode) and direct. The car is on the standard 15 "tires, but I did not have to correct much in strong wind last week. I'm surprised that there are very many people who are 'problems' have these these controls ..
Running I take it easy now is not that difficult for me because everywhere I drive faster than 100km / h I will be severely punished by the police officer ... The average consumption is here to keep at: http://www.spritmonitor.de/de /detailansicht/417220.html
first tank 901 km therefore, currently represents the range that I'm going to come out for the second tank at about 1000-1050km. Here I have ridden 2x highway with wind full on the head (consumption 5,5 6LT / 100km).
Switching is in the beginning what haperig (especially 2 and 3), but now is again automatically. Start and stop system I used until now only in situations where I know the sequence of the traffic lights or there I'm in 2nd or 3rd line. the engine stalls fast enough (it really takes not hours!) and it took me no angry looks up supplies behind me.
So far I am very happy with the car! It is a joy to drive around it. Car valuations week I put time being sufficient, I can obviously have nothing to say now. (EDIT: changed nav reactions well I was somewhat cautious TO .. apparently!)
Continued ...
UPDATE (2,950 km)
Now almost a month on the road. Cars like PRIMA!
- Length of the nose, I can now fully appreciate, so no problem.
- Switch is a lot less haperig than in the beginning; would call almost all smooth now; it is also a matter of habituation.
- Unfamiliarity is still remains the steering wheel controls audio / telephone; in my old Renault I had that fixed paddles behind the steering wheel; Now I'm ever in the situation in a curve / roundabout that I am one of those buttons need / want to use. And that is quite difficult with the steering wheel upside down ...
- have been a USB flash drive (Lacie Moskyto 8GB) bearing fiat Ecodrive AND an MP3 folder (with a CD-ROM or 20). Stick it, ecodrive starts automatically and simultaneously you can just listen to the music. I stand on random playback mode, so a random number x CD to any song CD Y. My Ecodrive score is, moreover, currently on 80 points.
- Fuel Gauge: this I marvel still .. The car has a fuel capacity of 45 liters. At 7 liters (by the book) remaining lights a lamp. Then you Vrind corpse requested by a display on the screen to refuel. That's the wiser half to seven liters. The range which the on-board computer then shows "----". Eventually I decided then not to refuel, when the pointer still 2-3 liters, however, depends on the pump I'm really not more than 38-39 liters! Consumption I Stops Here the Autweeksite, but the link to the sprit monitor also works. Average after 2866km: 1 in 24.72! I think quite properly, have the car still in the running at last !!
- Small ergernisje: with the sun slanting from left excels the FIAT logo you very much (dazzling) meet.
Furthermore, not to mention new things .. car runs smoothly and is well along in traffic. Car stays nice and quiet and still no creaks!
Pictures according soon.
UPDATE (4875 km)
Photos added and consumption been updated:

UPDATE (5,875 km)
- Consumption figures updated. Keep it in my well being nice! (Unfortunately, a lot of wind lately).
- Two weeks for the dealer to have it checked a few things, which at or after delivery were not quite right. I then agreed to collect some things before coming along. That is better for my blog, but of course also for the dealer himself. To resolve points:
* Front mounted radio crooked and aluminum piping was damaged what is around (both on delivery).
* Chair cheek driver's seat collapsed on door side.
* Makeup mirror widened enormously; check if this is normal.
* The last few days I noticed that the heater slowly warms up (compared to my old Clio then).
* Backorder touch-up pen.
* Readout possible modifications Fiat Netherlands.
- With respect to the consumption meter in the following reasoning I can move me: The 'red' in the fuel gauge starts at 1.5 bar, and you have eight dashes. The first 5 liters reserve tank.
So, 45-5 reserve = 40 liter. I tank the last times as many as the pointer depends substantially horizontally, so that seems to be true.
- Tov Clio I must note that the on-board computer is very accurate with respect to assignment consumption! Trip computer and real consumption are almost equal, which gives 'trust'; you do not own constant head count (which was often the case with Clio).
- Winter tires are ordered; Goodyear Ultra Grip 7+. Is the first winter for me, I'm curious. Well hope that King still winter here is delayed because it could be so first week of December, before the links below to ...
UPDATE (8,000 km)
- I recently stopped at the dealership:
* replace aluminum border around radio front and back mounted radio front.
* Supplied touch-up pen.
* Makeup mirror appears to be 'normal' for Fiat. We need it just to do it.
* A few weeks before I would come along, I had one of the vendors already shown what was wrong with the chair cheek. Perhaps some naive, but I might have expected that they could fix this so it at once. Not so, it must order the full session, which I then have to come back.
* Also, the taillights will be completely replaced (modification Fiat NL) concerning condensation in the units.
* The heating slow start has to do with the efficiency of the current generation of engines according to Fiat. Apparently there are still made plenty of comments, because recently there is a so-called back-up (approx € 300) to be found in the options list for the Punto Evo. I must still consider whether this post also in building, a parking heater is still a bit pricey (about € 1,500, Webasto evo with remote control).
- Winter: late October ordered the winter, not yet delivered to date. The Germans have been given priority because of the amended legislation there because we have to wait .. but hopefully not too long, because she needed in this weather.
- Consumption figures been updated on spritmonitor.de.
- Cost: I have the cost of Cio and Evo once again put in front of each other. I have therefore taken the months of September, October and November 2009 (Clio) and 2010 (Evo). And I'm a happy man ... (and so I upgraded the rating cost to excellent) !!
* Clio road tax € 168 / Evo € 0
* Clio insurance € 141 / € 126 Evo
* Clio ANWB € 27 / Evo € 0
* Clio Fuel € 416.10 (10 innings) / Evo € 362.48 (8 innings)
SAVINGS: € 263.62 = € 87.90 per month! (which is 35% compared to the Clio !!).
Rpm. 1: this does not include the maintenance of the Clio.
Rpm. 2: diesel in 2009 was lower than 2010; Thus it is that I can now turn more expensive per tank am (despite lower consumption). I have not kept the Clio km-registration, so I can not quite fully make road pricing equation.
UPDATE (11,000 km)
- I again stopped at the dealership:
* Not the session, but replace the entire chair.
* The rear lights have been replaced.
* Oil level checked (leave check due to various stories about low oil resulting in a broken turbo ..).
The heater which is now included in the option list is not subsequently incorporate. Heater is the only alternative, but I think for the time being a bit too expensive.
- Winter: FINALLY! They are below! Goodyear Ultra Grip 7+. On the main roads can not judge yet, but here in the parking lot brand I do tell a lot of difference!
- Consumption figures been updated on spritmonitor.de. With the frost at night (slowly warm engine) and the congestion on the roads because of the weather, I do not really nice to drive through the last few weeks, which is (obviously) translated into consumption. Hence the 'substantial' increase .. Hopefully there will be a rapid end to this, then we can back toward the 4,0ltr / 100km !!
UPDATE (17,000 km)
- Winter tires are extremely liked recently. Also in rainy conditions very good performance! Again, previously never driven with winter tires, but what a difference. Highly recommended so.
- Consumption figures been updated on spritmonitor.de.
http://www.spritmonitor.de/de/detailansicht/417220.html
Let's see if we with some better and warmer weather can go get the factory value of Fiat !!
- Cost: The previous session plus the months of December, January and February, while now included maintenance (maintenance Clio, winter Evo). If possible I would like to increase the valuation in very excellent!
* Clio road tax € 336 / Evo € 0
* Clio insurance € 282 / € 252 Evo
* Clio ANWB € 54 / Evo € 0
* Clio Fuel € 911.68 / € 786.20 Evo (17 innings)
SAVING: € 1,264.81 = € 210.80 per month! (which is 48% compared to the Clio!).
Note .: without maintenance Clio and winter Evo I come to a total saving of € 545.48, which is still 34%!
- The car continued: no details. Am watching how I can create some order in the boot. There are often things loose in that slide to the right at every turn left. Let's see if there's something to get a bowl for under the parcel shelf for the small stuff. Maybe someone here tips?
UPDATE (25,500 km)
- The summer tires (standard factory), there are now again.
- Consumption figures been updated on spritmonitor.de.
http://www.spritmonitor.de/de/detailansicht/417220.html
Despite the hard wind of the last few days yet again achieved a good score! Factory Exercise is indeed possible !!!
- Cost: The previous session plus the months of March, April and May, including maintenance (Clio vs. Evo)..
* Clio road tax € 504 / Evo € 0
* Clio insurance € 423 / € 378 Evo
* Clio ANWB € 71 / Evo € 0
* Clio maintenance € 1,066.42 / Evo € 432.09 (+ winter tire change summer tires)
* Clio Fuel € 1460.90 / € 1224.49 Evo (26 innings / 25293km)
SAVING: € 1,500.74 = € 166.75 per month. (which is still 42% compared to the Clio!).
Just think how it had been with the diesel prices by 2010.
- The car continued:
Nothing found vwb a storage compartment under the rear shelf.
The car goes on Monday to go to the garage; this week had up to three times the engine just after the switching to 5 starts to sputter. The first time I thought I had driven a flat tire. Let's see if they can find something.
Irritating: a rattle on the passenger side. Is it the right side (where the net is) from the center console? Is the door panel? (No, it's not the content in the armrest compartment). Sometimes suffer from resonance speaker right door. Since they have also but immediately watch.
The first turn is probably a little earlier than the 35.000km; this due to car travel.
UPDATE (32,000 km)
- Problem 'stuttering / shock / goats' of the engine. Garage has been able to find anything, unfortunately, the computer no messages are stored URL Fortunately I'm not the only one who is this, the Punto forum I'm also against the problem. To be continued. (For the time being the 4th star for reliability remains just standing, but I am beginning to doubt.)
- Since my Lacie USB stickje crashed, I do not work with Ecodrive. I sat there constantly around 78-81, so very exciting I found it no more.
- Car was before the holidays at the dealership for the 35000km-turn + oil. No abnormalities detected, charges were cf the package price (€ 286.39).
However, still some things seen under warranty: doorman driver redirected (hung slightly lower than the rear, good to see in the mirror the rubbers) posted, new rear light unit (right) problem resonance speaker court examined door and yet this seems resolved to be and, finally, there seems to be a solution to the cause of the leakage TPV rear wiper; However, this should come back another time, because the new rubber was not available (bit of a shame because I had this problem in good time before already transmitted via email).
- We are with the car was a holiday in Austria. Way there stopped in Nurnberg, then the next day drove to Salzburg. I have brought this on one tank (1031km) with a gem. consumption of 1: 27.5 (see sprit monitor) !! I really did not expect! Certainly not seen the hillock on-and-off-drive from suit and bite Wurzburg, but apparently makes the knoll than a lot. Average speed off the road (60-80-100) was 110km / h. Around Salzburg a bit of exploring the nearby region (relatively flat), but when we drove to Innsbruck (first piece inside by about Bad Reichenhall - St. Johann in Tirol - A12) yet again properly on and off. Near Innsbruck (including Achen) also climbed considerably (and down again). On the way back stopped in Nuremberg and refueled; 856km with a consumption of 1: 22.8. Absolutely not disappointed me (I could of the price of diesel fuel did not say, moreover, unlike Austria!). Refueling I have not done; After a return Nijmegen and what regional traffic, the counter is now at about 900km and a gem. consumption (BC) of 3.6. Which is on the way back from Nijmegen still stood at 3.5, but the short trips that make short work of it, unfortunately ...
- The engine must be quite uphill work; rather switch back and sit high in the revs so (if I compare a Scenic 1.9diesel 2007, which we drove around in the Black Forest last year, which still runs more smoothly). And then I have the air conditioning had not at uphill. Anyway, you know that if you buy a 1.3 hey!
Comfort car is just good. From home to Nurnberg it was about 700km. On the way stopped three times, came very rested. Maybe I'll still fill a bit the seat of the passenger seat; on the way back was unfortunately (fatigue) which sustain more difficult for the fellow passenger ... remains a pity that this chair is not adjustable.
- As if the devil would have it: the whole holiday had no problem with 'stuttering / shock / goats' of the engine. I come back to the Netherlands, it happens to me in the very first short ride once again. Well coincidence that it happened after I had used S & S, and when the air conditioning was on. On vacation I S & S not used (or the air conditioner). Let's see what the garage of saying, we still have to go back to the rubber of the rear.
Spoiled...? (45,700 km)
We are already more than 12,000 km further compared to the last update. What will it soon!
Regenerate the problem is not (yet) been resolved. Technically at least. Now the outside temperature is less (compared to the summer months), the problem does not occur during regeneration! I think I do so the next time they go back to the garage, then they do not find anything.
Consumption has in recent weeks called "shot up" (hear me now ...). This is mainly due to the wind. In one way or another, it seems like I always have this also to (I drive mostly 'tight' from west to east and vice versa).
What also falls on is that the difference board computer - actual consumption (since the regenerating problems !!) is fully turned. Where I was more favorable in practice to June 2011 than the consumption of BC, is now reversed and indeed, the BC now provides a highly favorable consumption (I will try to upload a bar chart Metje Excel as picture). I will be so often surprised at the pump lately.
I turned off the rear speakers (fader). There's a very annoying resonance. Since I have to return. Let's see if they already have within the rubber for the rear squeegee (maybe I missed it a message around / on holiday?). Well I hear and read everything about modifications; maybe I should anyway more often go along because I get past the "official channels" never message. But maybe a recall (also forthcoming according to some) is a great opportunity to lift a car by weather.
The winter there are now also already 2 months under. I immediately made an appointment with the switch in the spring, with the intention to be this year once again in time. Well ... we have known ..
Finally, as the cost of one full year (Sep / m Aug) compared with Clio:
- Clio total, including maintenance: € 4,575 (note: no winter tires and tire changes).
- Evo total, including maintenance:. € 2,950 (including snow tires, tire changes.)
Per month 'saving' me so still € 135! (= 36%). And that is beautiful. But it would have been nicer if we diesel prices in mid-2010 (€ 1.10) could hold for a year .. That had me (at 1760 liters) again produced a good € 450. Wonder where those prices go next year. But I think I already know the answer ...
Birthday !! (94,000 km)
It's been quite a long silence, which firstly apologize.
The P-Evo will soon be 3 years! The first memory of it I received via the dealer: come for the first MOT!
Below is a brief review ..
In May 2012, the car has 75.000km turn had combination with the oil change (to do at 60,000 km due to expire warranty and upcoming car rentals).
Thereby replaced under warranty / fixed:
- new speakers behind doors;
- (Again) new tail lamps;
- Rubber rear squeegee;
- Heater housing;
Also, while the fluids are changed for brake and clutch.
The problem with shock and goats when one has not resolve (which is still regularly occurred between 45-60.000km). I also allow all (in writing) the modification claimed for the crankcase ventilation, but at that time knew the relevant dealer as yet nothing (see below).
Then, after the car has brought us to Denmark without any problems.
Back from vacation unfortunately I waited an unpleasant surprise at work. Briefly, it came down to is that the P-Evo was going to make a little less daily km's. You notice this strong consumption, for the short pieces that you will be very inefficient. Conversely then think you obviously much less at the pump.
In the winter months I was very with the combination frost-stop-short pieces in my stomach. Eventually, after the intervention of Fiat UK, in late January, performed the modification crankcase ventilation at the local dealership.
After a month or whatever at home, the P-Evo could Since June then filled the bucket Daily 140km !! morning may virtually traffic-free, but in the afternoon there is still something to file unfortunately. But I am very content about consumption now being realized !! And with the air full of the last two / three weeks.
Oil has recently been refreshed with 90.000km. Very nice service from the local dealer, because I could go for it on Saturday!
As mentioned should the car for the first MOT. This is what we do after the holiday (southern Germany) at an estimated mileage of 97,500. I combine this again immediately with 105.000km turn.
I chose consciously in the meantime not to extend the warranty. This limitation obv vwb mileage, exclusion of many parts, the costs and the requirement for a Fiat garage to carry out the work.
Also, I have again taken out abo on the ANWB after the expiry of the warranty, but now only the EN-service incl. Residence. In Europe, I finally (triple I came back) covered by the automobile and travel insurance.
Finally, a report on the tires. All original summer tires are still under second; it collapsed during the summer-winter changeover on the flange (mechanic could just jump away happy), and this is free mounted a new one.
so far again ...
UPDATE - Still going strong - (210,000 km)
Time for small update I think. Meanwhile, we go to the 210.000km. It is quite rapidly, partly due to my daily commute (currently daily to Leiden 220km / day).
Outside tire changes, oil changes and (yearly) cycles / MOT, no details! At the last tire change to two new winter tires underneath, but hey, at 190.000km may also be I think.
Currently I orient me something anders.Wat more comfort / luxurious / bigger. However, in terms of costs is of course never be the same ..
Somewhat comparable monthly expenses / consumption by the manufacturer:
- New Megane 5D (beautiful model, even height adjustment only seat, however (very sensitive one nice looking) dashboard dirty fingers. ...)
- Mazda CX3 (very beautiful, but few options, no seat height adjustment only;. However, several trim levels for diesel available in Belgium .. weird)
- New Astra (sloping roofline, interior inadequate (high gloss / color screen) but the AGR seats)
- Captur (letdown is that gloss dashboard .. put it on the dashboard of the Megane with a different frame around the touch screen and I walk to the dealer ..)
Or maybe something else
- Young S60 used (heavier, less visible trunk, but more luxurious (windshield heating))
- New Sportage / RAV4 (Diesels very expensive to purchase, heavier / less efficient, so much more expensive)
