The first impression was positive. Both the interior, exterior and also the enormous space inside the car fell in a positive way. On departure I had printed the brochure in his hands and was kindly invited to come and test drive. After pondering for a week and googling I decided to actually test drive. This pleased me and my wife so well that we decided to inform fool the resale value of the car. I had prepared me to consult on the AutoWeek Carbase database regarding the resale value. This tempered my expectations somewhat because in the books there's not much value was left after 7 years and 176,000 kilometers.
The next positive surprise that afternoon were the bid on the car. It was so high that I got my generous depreciation goal. The goal was no more than 20 cents per kilometer depreciable ultimately result in trade involved more than 15 cents per kilometer. The maintenance costs are positive fallen by just over 4 cents per kilometer. Did everything together I almost 7.5 years, and 184 000 thousand kilometers driven around in the outback MJ2008 for relatively little money. The fact that I have driven on LPG over the years has contributed to low operating costs with fuel costs on average nearly 6 cents per kilometer. Regardless of road tax and insurance so I drove around for 25 cents per kilometer, an outcome that would have drawn in advance.
When asked if I had answered yes again would buy a car of the same brand. Now I balance layout I can based on operational cost, fun to use all these years, and reliability only conclude that I've driven a car whose price / performance / pleasure ratio has been excessively good. The intrinsic quality of the car, the fact that it has always had its maintenance in time and the relatively calm way of driving (I like to drive but am certainly no road racer) have ensured that reliability was high and costs remained low. And it's still a car where the new owner of pleasure by the quality of the car and the fact that there has only 8 months old Eurogas LPG installation.
Where the new Outback regards my expectations are again high. In a new review, I will keep you informed
First impressions:
As I buy my final contribution to my review on my previous Outback wrote last February I decided quite unexpected new Outback. The Tungsten paint finish in combination with the light interior had to be ordered the car in Japan because this combination was out of stock in the Netherlands. The result was to wait until the next boat would unload cars, something that was foreseen for July. Original delivery date was put on 24 July. In connection with this work was postponed to August 1 which last Saturday, five months after the draw, I could finally pick up the new car. On the equipment of the car I can be brief. Benefit of the policy that Subaru Netherlands maintains that wysiwyg, in other words, you get him as he is, extras are almost impossible to buy. In my case, the extras confined to the launch action a bodypack and Glass coating compass. The bodypack I let alone assemble front and rear guard. The other parts of the pack I swapped for a full-size spare instead of the pump and sprayer. All in all, a car that has been performed as described in the brochure.
Based on the test drive I made I had high expectations that have been confirmed after the first few rides. If I compare do with my previous Outback than the following stand out:
Plus:
- Quieter interior
- More spacious interior
- Nicer interior
- Quality sound
- Ride comfort from good to even better
- view diagonally to the left / right forwards better by other placement mirrors
- even better handling
- For the first time a multimedia installation
- Eyesight some safe and very relaxed driving permits
- more and better safety features
- weather more bells and whistles
0min:
- lighter steering
- Navigation
after on the lighter control everything on the car improved compared to the Outback MJ2008 I have driven in nearly 7.5 years. Curves are still rounded easier, the car feels almost light-hearted. The interior is minimalist, just what I look for in everything I use. Function over form in which in the case of the Outback shaped me very enchants, rather Outback minimalism than the buttons mentioned in the cars by Marco Gorter in his AutoWeek review.
Eyesight was and is an eye-opener. The extent to which it contributes to relaxed and safe driving I can hardly describe. It's something anyone can recommend to experience once, if only to get an idea what new developments in the field of automatic driving concerns will bring. Especially in heavy traffic where Eyesight can orientate on traffic in front of you and follow this creates a situation where you send except little need to do. Eyesight speeds, slow and stop the car depending on what is happening around you. Eyesight does not mean roundabouts and sharp bends. That makes tracking your vehicle in front stops allowing the automatic cruise control themselves off or the cruise control accelerates the car where you do not want it. Things to keep in mind because you get so used to quickly accelerate automatically and track your vehicle ahead that you unconsciously own actions 'expands'. I suspect this will resolve or if the experience Eyesight is more ingrained and predictable is how it is configured so I can anticipate more and less need to respond to correct. Something else Eyesight strongly reacts his oncoming cyclists when I ride on the embankment where I live. Even though I can pass without problems, right Eyesight intervenes and brakes to avoid a collision. " I like active cruise control is not activated've done is inhibited but you can if you keep the throttle without brakes by driving.
Other safety features I can not test but tested by various agencies and led in all cases to 5 stars (with a plus for Eyesight). Because Subaru strives to Volvo as a safety champion to stabbing the crown and I am convinced of the will, drive and engineering force that Subaru has, I am convinced that the active and passive safety of my Outback no longer is order.
A point which is greatly improved as the climate control system, in particular it is no longer noisy blowing of the installation is pleasant when it is to cool the interior. The ride comfort is improved. This manifests itself in a quieter interior and the ease with which bumps, blemishes, bad roads, ridges, etc. are filtered out. My previous Outback was good, this is even better.
The same money the handling. Straight-ahead driving is not a problem by itself, is stable and without the formation of trace influence. Driving roundabouts and sharp bends is a party (except for fellow passengers) for dosing as easy and good that higher than normal rates are not a problem. Again an improvement over my previous Outback that I caught on already high at this point.
Mulitimedia is good except for the navigation system. Linking a phone via Bluetooth is a breeze. It can play music no problem and also operate Spotify playlists from the steering wheel or the 7 inch screen is dead simple. For making phone calls, the same applies. Pressing a button on the steering wheel ensures the phone app on the screen in the car and then you can select frequently called contacts or can scroll through your contact list that is copied from your mobile. The quality of the telephone call is good. People can only hear that you are not in the office by the sounds that makes Eyesight (you can disable if you like) or, for example the tip of the indicator. All in all for me a big step forward compared to the plant which was built in my previous Outback. I used not because of the quality of the connection that was upsetting. Other feature that I use for the radio smoothly does his job. The quality of the speakers is good, at least good enough for me to be having fun listening to my music. I'm no audiophile and set might not require high but for a standard installation, I am very satisfied.
Where is concerned, I have no complain the bells and whistles. The things I have most appreciate:
- Tailgate automatically and remotely open and close
- Reversing camera
- Electric seat adjustment for both front seats
- automatic lighting
- ambient light (color is to match) in the interior
- Sliding / tilting roof
- rain Sensor
- Automatic windows front and rear
Finally, as the points are less. What do not like is the navigation system. That's good on sight and works well, but since I'm used TomTom includes current traffic I came to the conclusion that I have the built-in navigation but may work better for what it is, and better TomTom can continue to use. The evidence of my TomTom, just like the music, passed through the Bluetooth connection, and you can hear through the speakers. As long as you do not need the screen is this sufficient to be without problems piloted by traffic.
Steering to lock in the new Outback is lighter than my previous one. Each time I sip from a trip abroad and my car picked up again at the airport was something that struck me. Send firmly and immediately was what I was used to. The Outback still sends directly but "firm" is less. It will take some getting used and is not in itself a problem but is now the car is still fresh, still.
As you may already clearly evident from my review, I am excited and I look forward to the next seven years with this Outback.
More experience (1,650 km)
A few weeks and enjoyable kilometers further a new update of my findings based on a log that I kept. In addition to the previously mentioned positives I can add some. Most important is the bin / engine combination. This makes very relaxed driving possible at a quite acceptable consumption. The average through the car reported consumption is 7.0l / 100km. I usually set speeds are 55, 90 and 112 km / h and I try as much as possible, though always new drive to apply by anticipating and braking on the engine.
To return to the gearbox where the Autoweek review was talk of 'roar' and rubbery response I can not confirm this based on personal experience. Accelerating without cruise control is smooth enough without accelerating high speeds equal to the traffic around you. The system is too slow speeds when the weather accelerates through Eyesight after it has had to slow down. In those situations, I give myself gas until I can leave Eyesight to the weather. I have been in the 15 years I taught myself riding in cars with automatic transmission to metered gas so that the speed remains relatively low, even when I accelerate. The CVT is ideal because these low speeds (road) driving and speeding permits without jail jolts to shift up or down and by simply inhibiting the motor without excessive speeds and certainly no roar. To date, the most enjoyable automatic gearbox I've had in a car.
Other things positive score are the mirrors that are great, lots of show, so to propose that there is no dead angle and produce little noise by placing wind. Also, the placement of the mirrors to the rear is nice because the little diamond that means it is helpful to share what you do not see by reducing a style considerably.
Overall I can say that the car is quiet inside and this is what most people who ride or want to ride notice here. The smooth and relaxed driving is often cited by people in the car driving and space by the people in the back seat. Another point I can mention is the brightness of the headlights. I have not ridden much in the dark, but the times that late was returned on an unlit road in our neighborhood on the amount of light the width and front of the car is projected.
Something that is not in the brochure but I'm surprised it is nice that you can see and hear if anyone in the car belt omheeft. Nice especially because their son in the back wanted to see from here, or simply forgets and active should be urged to the belt to do. Also discovered that a sensor in the front seat or not activate the airbag for the front passenger. Whether the air bag is or is not activated you can see the display in the reading lamps. This is to determine whether a child in, for example, a Maxi-Cosi can be safely carried on the front seat.
Criticism is that the stationary traffic lights do not always stalling the engine. Turn Eyesight always happens when the car has stopped but not always when I myself Afrem. Especially when I come slowly decelerating to a stop, the engine will not fire. I brake late and harder, then the engine will always off. I do not know if this 'tunable'. Will it ask the garage once. Nice is that you can see how long you stand still with stalled engine and how much fuel you will save with it. You see the time savings during the stand up. The saving between recharging is about 0.75 liters. Not to fall back but in my case means about 350 "free" in fuel mileage by 1.5% from the distance I discard in a year.
The most I've used the car this summer with nice and warm weather. The perforated leather ensures cool is what's nice when boarding and during driving.
Nice find in use the automatic wipers. These work well, better than in my previous Outback, the wipers will not produce sound and make good and evenly dry the window area that is cleared is very large. In case of rain, I have experienced a number of times that the reversing camera drops have on the lens of the camera image when reversing heavy blurring. However, it does not always happen, and is likely related to the direction of the wind and rain.
Issues such as the automatic tailgate and use it without a key or remote to be able to step in and start or off by touching the door handle to exit the car pleasant vorzieningen. These are small things but get used quickly and strongly contribute to the overall potieve experience.
Things that I have meanwhile set up automatic seat adjustment via the remote control. Ensures that the seat setting is adjusted to my preference so I when my wife has driven, not first have to move the seat backwards anyway to be in the car. Secondly, I have set the PIN code to any key if I have with me in the car. Do not know when I will use this, but can be useful when you want something out of the car when you hold no key with you. How the car to exit weather was a bit of a puzzling but all doors closing central and the door through which you leave to join the car with you when closing the door the handle is pulled forward holds ensured that the door to Finally went.
A time now gone through all the preset radio stations were gone the next morning. I've reset but hope this incident is all it gives a bad feeling that can happen uberhaupt. Makes clear again that the majority of what we use software is controlled with code quality and extent of tests to determine how many errors are present in the final product.
About Eyesight yet to report in a few things. I've already Eyesight screeching off and that is a big relief. Eyesight but still beeps to alert following the discovery of 'something'. What 'something' is, is not clear. I have the impression that road close to the road surface marked with lines and portals / overpasses above the highway are usually the culprits. It occurs mainly in urban areas with many "obstacles" close to the road but the beep I'm me now much more aware of the number of portals / overpasses on highways, much more than I had ever realized (sigh). Turning all Eyesight assistance systems makes no difference.
Eyesight on the highway is a pleasant facility. It allows relaxing driving. All you have to keep in mind is that your speed is the speed of your predecessor can be and you will sometimes drive slower than set if you do not overtake.
The other Eyesight related note, the fact that Eyesight regularly inhibits where it should not or need something irritates. Cyclists meet me cycling on the dike I have already mentioned but there are other situations where this happens. For example, on a road with fast left / right turns where you can submit sharp Eyesight may suddenly braking hard. Annoying for cars behind you and you still scares because your first reaction if there is not something going on. I usually use the same way and it happens in corners where I often drove through without problems and is therefore surprised when suddenly braked again without it being necessary. The result is that I'm on fewer locations cruise control usage. Presumably all this is the reason that is mentioned in the manual Eyesight adaptive cruise control is not to be used in urban areas.
Eyesight despite the troubles I'm about the car as a whole positive. The car was firm and comfortable, has good seats and is equipped with all conveniences, drives excellent and has a fuel consumption I can only be very happy. Eyesight is the only discordant note. Eyesight is an innovative system that still has room for improvement in it. I can imagine that developing Eyesight I gave them the debt. and programming of such systems is complicated and have in themselves respect for what Subaru has achieved at this point but wonder how 'off' the system. From comparative tests show that Subaru is further than other marks where in inhibiting for objects but that it is still not perfect, it is therefore also evident. I hope that there will be updates by giving better recognition will reduce the number of false alerts and interventions.
Update on Eyesight / squeak:
As indicated was the squeak what I frequently heard a great source of irritation and I gave as previously indicated Eyesight this debt. Further research found that when I Eyesight forcibly turned off by blocking one of the cameras did not solve the problem persisted random squeaks. Google and the internet did eventually answer. It turns out that the navigation system also gives warning if it is not used. I turned off all the warnings in the device and that the beep problem is finally solved.
15000 KM turn (15 381 km)
After seven months and 15,000 kilometers a first turn and opportunity for a new update. Be the first to comment on this mileage and 7 months after completion: I do not have any other Outback in the wild "seen. This sounds unlikely but judging by the number of sold Subaru's and Outback's not so special again. Am still wondering how can I find him, I will see another Outback. Sadly and unfortunately for Subaru that such a good car so little appreciated and purchased. The car is roomy, practical, runs excellent, looks good and offers more than average value for money. I love it there but unknown, unloved.
In turn, as expected no details. In using any details. Comfortable, spacious and luxury are key words that I often use when I asked about my experience with the car. Comfort is high through the quiet interior, good chairs, silky smooth engine running, good handling and the CVT gearbox. The particular transmission ensures quiet and relaxed driving but allows you to be able to get quickly to your site or to accelerate. All this without the bucket howling or otherwise objectionable evidence of his presence. Comfort this does not affect drive-ability. The last was so and this Outback is another excellent steering and driving car.
Hold is the car in each case. 5 Adults can take place without any problems and have more than enough room for head and legs. Luxury because of the large equipment and quality of interior, sound system, climate control and more than excellent lighting that illuminates the road ahead far and wide. Something I have much use all the buttons on the steering wheel. The only thing I did not via buttons on the steering wheel control the temperature of the interior and the touchscreen. Comments here and there on the amount of buttons on the steering wheel are therefore what I am concerned, are not in place because they are placed all good, easy to operate, without that it is needed to achieve the look of the road, safe and comfortable.
All the bells and whistles I use alone, as previously reported, the navigation systems. I prefer TomTom because of the regular map updates and mainly due to the real-time traffic information.
The only comment I have after 7 months and 15 000 kilometers is the start-stop system. This works great but the engine starts again automatically after thirty seconds, I would expect that this would take longer if the goal is fuel and environmental savings.
In terms of consumption and costs i eea maintained from the start. The following table shows the results for the first 15 000 kilometers
Kilometers 15381
Liters fueled 11177
Costs Fuel 1701 euro
Consumption / Km 1: 13.06
Fuel Cost / Km 9.0 cents / km
Cost 15K servicing 164 euros
Maintenance / Km 1.12 cents / Km
Total variable cost / km 10.15 cents / km
consumption of 13.06 kilometers per liter for a car weighing 1573 kg, 4WD and a 2.5 liter engine in my opinion excellent and reasonably close to the standard specified average consumption of 1: 14.2. My daily commute is 50% on roads / city and the remaining 50% over the A12 to The Hague with both morning and evening rush hour on a busy road. I stick to the speed limit and adjust where possible to 'green driving' them.
