It is with this car no problem to take bends and roundabouts in third gear

In early 2011 looking for a different / new auto.Genoeg offering in the B-class, but not all that great in my opinion. The Toyota Yaris, Mitsubishi Colt and the VAG models Polo, Ibiza and Fabia are supplied in versions with smaller engine with a 3-cylinder. That runs generally fine, but the associated high engine noise I find unpleasant. Eventually ended up with Ford, a brand which I said a few years ago that I was happy finally to be away. The grass on the neighbor turned out not greener and offer in terms of both price and equipment is as usual very good.

My interest was first aroused by the Fiesta 1.4 with factory LPG plant, but the combination Ford / LPG felt after bad experiences in the past not good. A 1.25 on gasoline than available in a 60 hp and 82 hp version. First driving the 82 hp variant and that struck me everything. Overstappend from a diesel engine with plenty of torque / horsepower was still driving really no penalty. The 60 bhp had Surely disappointing. Not so. Actually, I noticed in the test drive little difference between the two engines. Technically, the motors are the same, the power difference is software controlled - the gas valve is far less open to 60 hp - and manifests itself only above 3500 rpm. In addition, the gearboxes of the two versions have a slightly different final drive.
Limited Comfort or Trend?

Fiesta has become so with 60 hp. Black (Black Panther, black with a bluish glow) will be found is boring by many but I think it's one of the most beautiful "colors" for a car and it is well Fiesta.

The implementation according to the documentation and the dealer a "Trend" bill. Confusing, because according to the price list Ford at the time of purchase which includes performance in combination with the 60 hp engine. The advertisement of the local dealer called this version also "Limited Comfort" or the Limited version with the Comfort package. The implementation of this is equal to, yes, the Trend. Typical Ford. Autumn 2010, the prices of all Fiestas structurally reduced by 2821 euros (!). Fun for current buyers like me, but in terms of trade very annoying for the people who paid the old price, which suddenly write off a lot more.

A 5-door with extras like alloy wheels (15 ", that of titanium) and a spare wheel. I can not get used to a spare tire today is not always standard. What also is not standard at this embodiment, an outside temperature meter. I am obviously over the years so accustomed to that I miss.
A coolant temperature indicator is not present also. Nor (almost useless) light that indicates the engine is cold. Or a signal at high temperature, of course.
Engine and handling

Car Badge was issued on January 29, 2011, the car is put my name on 18 February (cars purchased "off the shelf"). For the first ride after delivery I had in the two weeks that I had to wait yet again built up a negative expectation regarding the limited capacity of the engine. That again proved unfounded. From the first few meters, the car runs smoothly with the traffic along. Nowhere is the feeling that the car can bring. Kick you to accelerate the accelerator to significantly, it happens not much extra. A traffic light sprint is not an option and when I come once near serious height I'll also known brands. In the Netherlands we do not have that, so the engine will do just fine.
I drive about 20,000 km per year, mostly during rush hour. Continue is still not there.
At 110 km / h the car is the most comfortable, the speed is 3000 rpm. Accelerating out to overtake a truck is not a problem. The speed is lower (below 100 km / h) then needs to be switched back. Until about 3500 rpm the engine climbs smoothly in speed, above it is difficult. Direction 5000 is simply uncomfortable up there really nothing adds more.

It is with this car no problem to take bends and roundabouts in third gear. From 1500 rpm the engine picks up smoothly. Lower revs can be - without jolt - but then there is no more pulling power. The fifth gear is already used at constant speeds above 60 km / h. On the highway, the car is relatively quiet. In other reviews I read that the engine makes too much noise, I feel that in any case not so.

The handling of the Fiesta is excellent, but I must also state immediately that I was not much used after 2 MPV-like. The steering is also getting used to for me, when Japanese cars is different. Fiesta sends free immediately.
The outlet knows, especially when pulling away from rest, producing a sound enthusiast without irritating come across.
Brakes, the car just fine, only the dosing will be sometimes difficult; the transition from soft to hard braking is quite abrupt. Getting used to.
Interior

Almost all of which I think the need is over, air-to ESP. Not necessarily but it's very nice heated windscreen. Unfortunately, there is not (had no options for sorting because the car was purchased from Stock) and there were still some wishes that have not met but which the price still remained pleasantly low.
The dashboard I find beautiful and original. The behind the wheel is excellent, the entrance is through the tight line getting used to, even with the height adjustable seat - unfortunately but necessarily - in the lowest position. About the legroom for rear I was a little concerned, and it shows up partly. The driver's seat is in the 2-by-rear position. That happens to me but little, usually is the chair up backwards. Not too large adult can just sit behind me, but for my chair will still have 1 or 2 extra tap forward. For the children who usually sit there going, of course, problems.

When looking in the mirror, you see a substantial deformation at the top of the rear window. Apparently there's a big bulge / corner at that point. In particular, in the dark, which indicates foreign light effects. The car is a little lower than my previous cars, which is the mirror in noticing the dark. All contemporary party lighting is good present and the mirror should soon in the anti-glare position.

The height and depth adjustable steering wheel is great but in this version, unfortunately, not covered with leather. You get used to that kind apparently do little things.
The space between the brake pedal and accelerator pedal is just big enough for me, I had to learn my feet (with shoe size 48) something else to put down to not take the brake as I would depress the accelerator. Meanwhile, I do not think there more after.
Switching is pretty nice. Poker gives enough resistance, but pickling should hakerig less. The rear exhaust with difficulty inserting. How do you try, there is often still needed a second attempt. Poker should be just slightly further back to fall well into reverse. Do you harshly than succeed better but that sounds and feels not so good.

The operation of the instruments is well and sits on logical spots. The lever for the turn indicator will blink unpleasantly heavy at right. The automatic 3 flashes is nice.
The button for the rear fog lamp is quite hidden links behind the wheel, fortunately there is a warning light in the visual field.
The control of the heating / air conditioning is reasonably well appointed. When turning the big wheel of the fan towards the windscreen mode, manual air conditioner turns on automatically. That does not belong to me.

The car is of course not very big but it seems from the outside even smaller if a competitor next to it in the same class. Nevertheless, the space enough for me and at times when it is not so then I use a roof box.
The rear spoiler the car is good, though it is so more difficult to personalize the performance a bit because all Fiestas have such a thing.

The versions without fog lights (like mine) have a different model front bumper where no empty spaces are in making very clear that you do not have that option, really neat. In that place is a kind of air intake.
Fiesta's come standard with flat blades (flexible wipers).

The amount of usable storage space strikes me somewhat disappointing; The glovebox is fortunately quite deep (in part) and there is a storage space on the left below the handlebar. The courses / cup holders on the center console are not ideal. The trunk is large enough to almost 300 liters, but does have a rather high sill.
audio

The standard radio complies reasonably well. The operation is very simple, MP3 CDs can be played and Aux socket in a convenient place (in addition to the 12V socket in the center console) is standard, here, for example, a separate MP3 player hung on. A USB port is sadly lacking in this embodiment.
The standard speakers are definitely not super but suffice as long as the setting for the bass but slightly below the central position. Left on the handlebar of handy buttons that the radio can be operated.

Rear speakers are not but I would have liked them. The wiring is laid out from the radio (is already in the plug that goes into the head unit) and runs through the B-pillar. From there you have to pull yourself wires. In addition, (cost: 180 euros), the radio should be adjusted by software to get sound from the speakers. Ford has opted for the versions that come without rear speakers that output block on the radio and turn off the fader. Poorly regulated.
Consumption

Consumption is on the driven 82 921 km on average 1 in 16.17. Obviously less favorable than the manufacturer, but given the experiences of others that I read, there is no reason to complain to me.
The range is therefore around 650 km. To me tidy.
adjustments

In the time that I have the Fiesta, I've done some minor adjustments / to do on the car. They include:

The back of the rear seat is not covered in the Fiestas from 2008 to mid 2011. If at first not so bad, although it is somewhat bare state. Unprotected metal, however, easily damaged and it is ugly. A customized set of felt and bought that neatly pasted (this coating must be removed). State very neat, you will see no difference with the current versions are equipped as standard with felt ..

Courtesy lighting; lights under the dashboard (both driver and passenger side) placed burning simultaneously with the interior. The fittings were already there, but these are only some versions actually filled with lights. Investment of a half euros and is much more luxurious.


In mid-2012 there are put speakers in the rear doors and connected to the wiring factory has already been built into the B-pillar. Unfortunately it was not possible the dealer to activate the fader on my radio, so no sound from the rear speakers. The radio is also then replaced by the more luxurious version of the Titanium, including the larger and wider display. Is a lot nicer, but still no sound back.

An armrest is nice for storage space and your right arm is fine to lie. Also a lot more luxurious.

A leather steering wheel disposed in place of the plastic steering wheel in this embodiment. Including cruise control operation. The wiring was already present at the Fiesta, so only software to be settled it.

In one action, the Cruise Control activated, the speakers turned back (no possibility to fade Front / Rear, but sound from all speakers mounted) and the trip computer is turned on; This provides additional menu options like Range and Current and average fuel consumption.

The outside temperature is displayed, for it had to be placed a sensor.
Troubleshooting

The mat to the driver's side has a very short lifetime. This is shown an ailment and has to do with the shape of the bottom. The first three years I got more new mat sets (free) and which has now ended. Fortunately, Ford now has the option to order only a bestuurdersmat.

The bonnet was after the car delivery rather lopsided, this is adjusted properly at an interim visit.

Inserting the reverse gear, almost never problems. There are many complaints about, so I'm quite happy.

The tank valve is open and difficult to get close, also an ailment of this model Fiesta. When maintenance is resolved.

When throttle at low revs I keep hearing brief ping the engine. Should not be able (knock sensor). Given the relatively high compression ratio I refuel other petrol. It was a question of finding the most effective solution (BP Ultimate), but pinging is gone. The higher price per liter is offset by lower consumption (thus my scores on Spritmonitor.de).

End 2012, while an annoying problem: falling off the engine when pulling away from a standstill after a cold start in the morning or afternoon and then almost silent, keep enormously. After a few seconds it away. Therefore be substantially more gas when starting off seems to prevent but that would not be necessary. The first two kilometers the car is anyway not good when it is cold, always keep a little.
The problem with the contents disappeared before the car to the next service and was not returned.

In the same period froze the driver's window twice, was not budge. Not convenient at a parking garage. There was no ice on the outside of the window / door. Problem is below not returned.
Maintenance

1st overhaul - 20,772 km.
End of January 2012 was the first service. It is the problem of the tank cover and fixed portions of the control system are lubricated. The turn cost 232 euros.

Warranty extension
recently I have the guarantee extended by 36 months. This costs 420 euros and a maximum of 100,000 km. I have no particular problems, but still want a few years continue to drive and expects in terms of amount I can get from this there.

2nd maintenance - 40 864 km
January 2013 was the Fiesta to the dealer for the second turn, covered by a thick layer of snow and ice. No specialties.
The turn cost 356 euros (standard 40K turn change with brake fluid).

3rd maintenance - 58 924 km
Right on his birthday, Fiesta was the third service. No specialties.
The maintenance cost 315 euros.
The aircon I had re-fill the week before.

4th maintenance / first MOT - 70 251 km
last year made conditions less mileage.
Servicing (including APC) was 337 euros.
According to specifications the brake fluid should be replaced. This is not done. Upon inquiry appears to be measured liquid (how much water is in it - my words) and that was good.
There were again no specifics.

5th maintenance - 82 846 km
Even fewer kilometers than previously made this year.
The price of the maintenance was 243 euros.
No specialties.
